Good news! Sephora Play! is now open to more people! This box is $10 a month and includes brands featured at Sephora. I'm really sad this month, either they didn't include an info book and play pass, or I just didn't get one. Either way, it makes me sad! I hope it was just a fluke because those are so helpful.
Recently Milk Makeup sent us some products to review, and I'm really excited to share them with you. We got 5 products, four makeup and one hair product. In addition to their crazy makeup packaging, Milk has an interesting spread of products, ranging from natural deodorants to spray nail polish. They're an interesting company for sure. Let's get into the products!
Recently I got an email from Sephora about a VIB event in my area-not a free one, unfortunately. Sephora knows better. This event cost 500 points (aka $500) and we were promised amazing things; a Sephora gift card, a gift bag full of freebies, a fun experience for me and a friend (my mom)- I'd say that's better than 99% of the 500 point perks on Sephora's website right now, which led me to ultimately decide that this event was the best way to spend my points. Because it doesn't look like anything better will be coming out in the near future (and even if it does, how do we know it won't be another Epic Rewards fail?). So I took the plunge, and now I'm going to go back and break down the experience for you and try to put a cash value to a priceless experience. Classic Lauren.
These Amuse Bouche lipsticks by Bite Beauty retail for $26. $26, otherwise known as the perfectly priced item for beauty addicts. You can buy this lipstick on Sephora.com and snag one of their gift with $25 purchase promotions. The consistency feels just like chapstick on the lips. It never completely dries down.
Popsugar Must Have recently came out with their first miniature box to compete with midrange subscriptions like HammockPack and GlossyBox. I tried to resist but ultimately hopped on the bandwagon in hopes of their first box being spectacular. If you're interested in subscribing to this box, it costs $18.95, and you will receive two full size products with a promised retail value of over $30. However, the next box is the July box.
Birchbox is one of the original beauty subscription boxes. For $10 a month they send 4-7 products to try. They often have promotions going on for new subscribers. Right now you can get a free Rifle Paper Co. Pocket Notebook Duo with your subscription. Use this link to tell them we sent you. :)
I have been a loyal birchbox subscriber for 3 years now, and I can never get enough of their boxes, especially ones designed by Rifle Paper Co.! This is a review of the curated box this month, sometimes you can find these boxes for sale in the Birchbox shop.
Hi, I'm Fresca! I'm taking over the blog this week for National Pet Day (this happened on Monday!)! I was excited because my mom and dad spoiled me so much with treats, pets, and snuggles. So, I really wanted to say thank you to them by writing them a sweet note. The paw-blem is that I don't have a card to give to them! What's a dog to do?
While roaming the three isles of the Target dollar spot (you know, the only safe place in Target for a spendaholic like myself), I found the planter of my dreams. It was cheap, $3, it was fake, so I couldn't kill it, and it was super adorable. When I got it home, I was completely satisfied with it, until I got the urge to paint. In a past life I was subscribed to many a nail polish box, and I only use a few of them. So I decided to put them to use here.
It may be hard to come by an honest My Makeup Brush Set review, because they offer free brushes for bloggers and YouTubers who write them *positive* reviews. So I decided to come by these brushes the honest way. All 10 of these brushes cost me $25, and I used the code BFF for free shipping. So let's be real, these brushes are attempting to be the Artis knockoff brushes of our dreams.
Lauren is always kind enough to give me any samples from her beauty subscription boxes that are anti-aging and any samples that she does not like or want. Benefits of having a little sister who LOVES beauty products! So when Lauren gave me a sample (0.34 fl. oz) of Tatcha Indigo Smoothing Triple Recovery Cream, I was in heaven. I know that this is a "luxury" skincare product, given that the full size product goes for $135 for 1.7 fl. oz, and I can tell by the heavy duty packaging that it is a quality product. My intention for this post wasn't to review the product, but I would like to say a few words about it.
Sleep has not always eluded me. Many nights, I sleep just fine. It mostly depends on my anxiety level from the day. Do you experience this same phenomenon as well? Why is it that anxiety (as well as other matters) interferes with our sleep? Doesn't anxiety know that we need the sleep to heal? I'm going off on a soapbox that I know is unnecessary. But, I have some tips that may help you find sleep again.
I am excited to be reviewing BarkBox. This has been by far one of Decker's favorite boxes; the contents are always a hit, and the toys have a good history of holding up really well. I love how playful BarkBox as a company is. Their Instagram is hilarious, and even when you contact customer service the dog-related puns just do not stop, and I can never have enough dog-related puns in my life. This is a review of the 50+ lb box, for large dogs.
I feel like people are going to be pretty upset about this, but don't shoot the messenger. This is all on Sephora. I know last fall people were pretty upset that VIB and VIB Rouge members got the same discount of 20% off their entire purchase. VIB Rouge members are promised extra perks beyond that of the VIB membership, and this seemed to be a slap in the face for many who loyally spent $1,000 at Sephora in a calendar year. This year's sale is possibly more upsetting. VIB Rouge members will not only get the same discount as VIB members, but a 15% discount at that. *gasps* I know there has been precedent for this discount to be smaller during the spring sale, but you'd think with how much Sephora has ticked people off lately, they'd try to make amends. Oh well, on to the sale!
Choix is a mail-order at-home makeup counter sampler. (No more swatching foundations unreliably on your hand or using disgustingly overused and under-sanitized makeup in-store. Also, no more asking overworked, sometimes disgruntled associates for samples). Their website says you get enough product to use once, maybe twice, but if you're an indecisive cheapskate like me, you find a way to make them last much longer, especially the high-end stuff.
Influenster was kind enough to send me this product to review. If you're interested in reviewing products through influenster, use this link to let them know we referred you. This is the L'Oreal EverPure 6 in 1 Cleansing Balm for colored hair (It is sulfate, silicone, dye, paraben, salt, and animal by-product free! It's also completely vegan.) It retails for anywhere from $9.99 at Target to $11.99 on Amazon. (See our YouTube review if you like watching more than reading.)
I bought this lip tint from Memebox for $9.00 (use this link for 20% your first purchase). It is by the brand Berrisom in the color Bubble Pink. Products like this are also known as lip tattoos. It is a peel-off stain, similar to a peel-off face mask in many ways (apply, wait 20 minutes for it to dry, and when you peel it off reveal pink lips!) See the video at the bottom of this post to see me applying it. Or use this link if you like listening more than reading.
PetGiftBox is a monthly subscription (that is almost always having some sort of promotion! We got this subscription on Black Friday, and our first box was $1! We've also had subscriptions through Groupon that were $9.99 for one month, so be sure to check there, too!) Their cheapest option is for a twelve month subscription at $18.99 a month, but if you just want to buy one box it will cost you $28.99 with no coupon. Decker actually has his own code, so if you want to support us, you can use his code "Decker" get 25% off your first box!
When I was a poor college student, my motto was "enjoy life on a dime". I love container gardening, as I mentioned in my last post, but it can get very expensive very fast. But not to worry! It is possible to garden without breaking the bank.
Fabfitfun is a lifestyle subscription box that ships quarterly. It sells for $49.99 a quarter, although you can often find deals for $10 off, and if you sign up for a yearly subscription you get a $20 discount off the whole year, and you become a select member, which means you get to choose some details of your box every season. This season's box has a posted retail value of $282.91, but I have a few issues with that number, and we'll get into why in a minute. Next to Popsugar Must Have, Fabfitfun holds a place in my heart for my favorite subscription box, but this season's box wasn't for me, but I know many people loved it.
The choice is difficult: skin care or makeup? An almost impossible question to answer. Especially because Sephora doesn't clearly show how much of each product you get in this lovely photo. So I decided to do some research.
Sephora Play! is currently an exclusive subscription box, which is causing a lot of hubbub. This is their seventh box, meaning it's been seven months since they first rolled out this program, and people are pretty upset that it's still not open to the public yet. I don't know how I was chosen; it was some sort of retail-analysis miracle I'm sure, but many have not been so lucky
Over the years, I have developed a love for container gardening. I love small space container gardening in particular due to living in a student living apartment for the majority of my college career. Some of my favorite gardening ideas came from that apartment. One of my favorites is re-using store-bought vegetables and herbs and re-planting them for future use. Of all of those in the produce section of the grocery store, my go-to for re-planting is green onions. Some of my other favorites are celery and bok choy. Green onions come straight from the store with roots and all!
This is the Dr. Brandt Skincare VIB Gift deluxe gift with purchase. This set came out in December, along with two other options, but those have since sold out, and this is the last set (which I am completely fine with, because Dr. Brandt is my favorite). If you are a VIB or VIB Rouge you can still try and get it with the code VIBFACIAL. This is a high value gift with purchase that I am happy to see Sephora offering.
So per usual, I've spent money I need on makeup I don't. Surprise, surprise. But I just could not resist this ready-for-spring, absolutely adorable, great value deal from Sephora. (What else is new, right?) This kit is $40 US, and per all Sephora Favorites, it's got high retail value ($122) and it's a limited edition set that won't be around forever. These are the two things that always get me. Cheeky Sephora. They know what we makeup addicts like.
