So per usual, I've spent money I need on makeup I don't. Surprise, surprise. But I just could not resist this ready-for-spring, absolutely adorable, great value deal from Sephora. (What else is new, right?) This kit is $40 US, and per all Sephora Favorites, it's got high retail value ($122) and it's a limited edition set that won't be around forever. These are the two things that always get me. Cheeky Sephora. They know what we makeup addicts like.
This is the outer packaging in which all the goodies come. I am in love with any box that has gold foil and flowers, so naturally, I had to take one billion photos of it before opening.
There is a lot of box here considering the size and quantity of the items enclosed, but the box is so gorgeous I'm not complaining.
0.03 oz BeautyBlender The Original beautyblender® (full size) $20.00
The fact that this little sponge covers half the cost of the box was one of the huge selling points for me. One can never have too many BeautyBlenders, and at $20 a piece, why not get one in a box for a good deal?
0.05 oz Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Scratch (full size) $19
And this little beauty covers the other half of the box. If you were going to buy these two anyway, the rest of the box is basically free. (Having had no intention of buying either of these things in the near future, that logic, unfortunately, does not justify my purchase. *sniff* Still a great deal though. And I will definitely use it.)
0.05 oz Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Blissful $7
It's described as a shimmery warm peach. This is a really good size blush for not being full size; I doubt I will even make a dent in it in the next six months.
0.085 oz BECCA Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pressed Rose Gold $11.53
It's described as a soft gold infused with rose tones. This was one of the main selling points of this box for me. If you consider it a freebie on top of the full size BeautyBlender and Urban Decay eyeshadow, then you just scored $11 worth of immaculate shimmering face glory. I can never get enough of that perfect Becca highlight. And a rose toned one? Oh sweet perfection.
0.27 oz Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish in Baby Love $9.72
This swatched extremely sheer. I think it would make a good base for a french tip, or a natural looking nail, but it will not be that opaque ballerina pink I had hoped it would be.
0.12 oz Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in French Kiss (full size) $28
Thought this was interesting, now that it's starting to get hot, my lipstick came covered in condensation.
0.10 oz Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss in 202 $8.26
This lip applicator perplexes me. It has a little notch in the side for some mysteriously unexplained reason. Seems to work like a normal applicator.
This gloss is pretty sticky, but personally I like my gloss to be a little tacky. In consistency not shade. Just to be clear.
0.1 oz Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara $8
I really like this mascara; however, if you are unfamiliar with it, it claims to add curl and lift to your lashes (making the eyelash curler obsolete.) Well, don't throw out that curler yet. Although this is a nice idea, in practice, it does not really add curl to my lashes. Sadly it does very little in the curling department, especially if you have straight Asian eye lashes like I do. But it is a very black mascara, and it is very lengthening more than anything. Volume? I'd give it a 5.
Verdict: I love this box. The value is fantastic, and each item has an average retail value of $15. The nail polish was less opaque than I would have liked, but it is still a beautiful color. The eyeshadow, blush, and highlight are the main reasons I went for this box. I almost never finish deluxe sample sizes (and not for lack of trying!) so to me it's as almost as getting the full size of everything. What a fantastic deal!
