Fabfitfun is a lifestyle subscription box that ships quarterly. It sells for $49.99 a quarter, although you can often find deals for $10 off, and if you sign up for a yearly subscription you get a $20 discount off the whole year, and you become a select member, which means you get to choose some details of your box every season. This season's box has a posted retail value of $282.91, but I have a few issues with that number, and we'll get into why in a minute. Next to Popsugar Must Have, Fabfitfun holds a place in my heart for my favorite subscription box, but this season's box wasn't for me, but I know many people loved it.
Herb Garden by MakersKit $35 This was smaller than I expected it to be, but honestly I don't know what I was expecting to come in a relatively small box, an herb garden the size of a shoe box? Well, spoiler, this is not that. I'm still so thrilled to set this up. If I can keep it alive, having a fresh herb garden in the kitchen will be a dream come true. They also included a universal code that you can use on their site fort 20% off, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be buying some more from this company. Just because these make really cute gifts. (The code is FABFITFUN.)
Contour Kit by ISH $32 A few weeks ago, FFF asked us to choose our skin tone for this box, so naturally I chose light/medium because I immediately thought concealer or foundation. If I had known it was for a blush/contour kit, I might have chosen differently. These colors are very light, as you can see in the swatches below, and the highlight shade is almost nonexistent.
I'm normally quite skeptical about the retail value of these Fabfitfun products. From what I could tell, it seems this is a Fabfitfun creation. The site says "Joey Maalouf and FabFitFun introduce ISH." The quality seems iffy to me, like most Fabfitfun-brand items, I feel like I can get the same quality product at TJMaxx for $7.99. Also, can I just say that the name bothers me? Because it does.
Argan & Hemp Oil Therapy by Marrakesh $22.99 People rave about this oil, and I can see why. It smells amazing, for one. If you've ever had the luxury of smelling a Beauty Protector product, then you'll have an idea of what this oil smells like. It's a sweet, vanilla/cupcake, smell. With how damaged my hair always looks, I really appreciate the chance to try out this luxury item.
Merrithew Yoga Mat Strap $14.99 I like that this is a multipurpose item. I don't know what percentage of subscribers have a yoga mat, and what percent of that group takes their yoga mat to a class and what percent of that group don't already have a bag for their mat. It seems to me like it would be a small number, so at first this item seemed like a waste for most people, and if this were just a yoga mat holder, I would be kind of upset, but this is also a resistance band. Hooray! I think everyone can use a resistance band. Well, I probably shouldn't use one, but I never really expect to get use out of these fit items. Use code FFFMAT16 to get 25% off a purchase on merrithew.com.
Bath Bomb Trinity by Jus D'Amour $28 This is one of the products with which I struggle. I love bath bombs, so much so that I have made my own. And to make 3 bath bombs of this size (they are about half the size of a Lush Twilight for reference) would probably cost me about $4. These are also very strong smelling bath bombs, so I don't know if they will be everyone's cup of tea. I like that they come prepackaged and ready to gift though!
Tag Necklace by Jook & Nona $65 Personally I think this necklace is a little overpriced. I would probably pay $18-$32 for it at a store like Urban Outfitters. It will be great for layering, but it always bothers me when jewelry pieces like this are used to boost the retail value of the box.
Keratin Gloves & Socks $9.98 If you watch our YouTube channel, you might know that I have a weird hate-hate relationship with cloth face masks, and as this product has a similar concept with which I disagree, I doubt I will be using it. (So much wasted product, such a weird sensation, gimmicky feel.) My dad will appreciate them I'm sure.
Shaving Emulation Lotion by HelloLegs $19.95 I can't find this product or even this brand online at all. Which is always a weird feeling. I don't think I would ever pay $20 for 3 oz (basically a travel size) of shaving lotion. It does smell like candy, though, and I will most likely use it, but this packaging is reminiscent of Bath and Body Works circa 2003, and it just feels childish or cheap or something.
$25 Gift Card to 31 Bits Recycling materials and empowering artisans in Uganda is really cool. This is a really specific style of jewelry that I'll have to really dig through before I can figure out what will work for me... and what is under $25 or so.
$30 Gift Card to Sterling Forever This jewelry is more my style. I'm very excited to spend this gift card, although for costume jewelry this stuff is kind of pricey. I do love when Fabfitfun includes gift cards in their boxes though! I know it most definitely drives me to buy something from a site I probably never would have known about, and so I think it's a win-win for everyone! (3 jewelry related items in one box, is anyone else intrigued by this?)
Verdict: As I've said, this box wasn't really for me personally, but that doesn't mean it's not a good box. I know a lot of people who loved this box, and I'm excited to gift these products! For me the herb garden and the hair oil add up to more than the cost of the box so I am pretty happy! Everything else is just bonus! I don't know how they do it, but I'm so happy they do. If I were to calculate the cost of this box with the adjustment for the bath bombs and the contour kit, it would probably still come out to about $233, which is $183 more than I spent, so I can't complain!
