Decker waiting patiently while I photograph the contents of his box.
I am excited to be reviewing BarkBox. This has been by far one of Decker's favorite boxes; the contents are always a hit, and the toys have a good history of holding up really well. I love how playful BarkBox as a company is. Their Instagram is hilarious, and even when you contact customer service the dog-related puns just do not stop, and I can never have enough dog-related puns in my life. This is a review of the 50+ lb box, for large dogs.
This is a review of the March box (I think?), and we signed up for a 6 month subscription, so this box cost us $21. We also used a coupon for a free box (we really wish we could have gotten the free toy in every box promotion, but we missed it by a day!), so really this box cost us $18 if you count the bonus box into the equation. If you want to get a free box, too, you can use the code DECKERBONUSBOX or use this link to activate your coupon.
BarkMade Pretzel retail value $12 I'm assuming this is the large size. It's hard to tell because they are the same price online and it doesn't say on the toy itself. This toy feels like a twisted rope toy inside a durable nylon sleeve. It's perfect for the New York City theme, and I think it will hold up well. Every BarkMade toy we've gotten has so far!
BarkMade Lady Liberty Ball retail value $12 Again I'm assuming this is the large version. Decker loved his Mardi Gras version of this toy, and it lasted months and months, even with a new heavy-chewing puppy around! Very impressed by the quality of these BarkBox exclusive toys so far!
Feel Good Treat Company Pawstrami and Rye retail value $9 Again, they rocked this theme. These treats are little squares that look kind of like Turkish Delight desserts. I couldn't find these on the BarkShop site, and I'm thinking maybe it's because these treats were made specifically for this NY-themed box.
Nootie Pepperoni Treats $10 These are soft chicken treats, and they're grain free! I couldn't find these on the BarkShop site either, but other Nootie brand treats are on there, so I'm sure if Decker loves these, we can try some of those!
Butcher's Block LLC Bully Stick retail value $4 Decker loves bully sticks. He can finish them pretty quickly, so I have to be careful and watch him. I've also heard these can develop food-borne illness if left out for days, so I'm actually kind of happy he eats them in one sitting!
I thought this tag was so cute. I love how on top of it BarkBox is. Look, you can even text them! What an on-trend and with-it company.
Verdict: This box has a retail value of $47, which is great considering we paid $18 for this box with the coupon! I know a lot of dog subscriptions struggle to pack their boxes with content of a higher retail value than the cost to the consumer, so this makes me really happy. We always need new and exciting training treats, and we go through toys like water, so I'm very happy that we might be saving some dough this way! And BarkBox has a great customer service team that really wants your dog to be happy, so if your pup doesn't like one of the products, you can contact them to try and resolve it, which is great. Much better than blindly buying pricey treats from the store and praying your dogs like them.
